USO DA TERRA, POLUIÇÃO DIFUSA E PROPOSTAS DE AÇÕES PARA A GESTÃO DE BACIAS HIDROGRÁFICAS: UM ESTUDO DE CASO DA BACIA DO RIO UBERABINHA (UBERLÂNDIA, MG)

Resumo

Os sedimentos dos rios podem estocar uma grande quantidade de substâncias tóxicas que agem como fontes secundárias de poluição quando liberadas para as águas. Atividades antropogênicas como industrialização, urbanização e agricultura são responsáveis pela liberação e lançamento de altas cargas de elementos tóxicos nos corpos hídricos e podem afetar negativamente a qualidade dos sedimentos. O objetivo deste artigo foi avaliar a concentração dos elementos As, Cd, Pb, Cu, Cr, Ni e Zn nos sedimentos coletados no Rio Uberabinha (Uberlândia, MG) e avaliar as implicações ambientais e para a saúde humana em função dos parâmetros de qualidade estabelecidos pelo CONAMA e a proposição de ações para a gestão da bacia. Anthropogenic activities as industrialization, urbanization and agriculture are responsible for the input of high amounts of toxic metals to the surface water of a River Basin and can negatively impact sediment quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the concentration of toxic elements as As, Cd, Pb, Cu, Cr, Ni e Zn in sediments of Uberabinha River (Uberlândia, MG) which may represent a risk for the environment and human health. The Chemical analysis of sediments was compared to guiding values for sediment quality established by the National Environment Council (CONAMA, Brazil) and the proposition of actions for basin management.
