Abstract

In this work we will analyze the linking among population’s internal movements (interregional migrations) and the regional differentiation in the last intercensal period (1991-2001). To evaluate this process we will approach the different explanatory slopes of the unequal regional development. Basically we will propose a classification that opposes functional theories to the logic of the “market” or “equilibrium” with critical theories to this convergence. For the analysis of this problem we will use the respective rates of migratory growth and the variation of GNP at provincial level, during the nineties. The obtained results will be confronted with the theories included in our theoretical mark. Key words: Regional inequalities theories; Internal migrations; Regional inequalities.
