Geographers and literature: approaches to the city

Abstract

In the context of the Cultural and Humanists studies in Geography, we expect to contribute to the enlargement of the possibilities of study in the interface between Geography and Literature, defending the studies that focus the city. Human device for excellence, deeply compromised with Literature, the modern city produced and produces innumerables geographies such as novels, that still they need to be more explored in the context of the geographic studies in Brazil. This approach can contribute to both the studies about Geography and Literature, and the urban ones, adding the artists view, who lives and writes about the city, searching for its essence and producing representations and speeches about the city and the urban life.
