Structuring indicators for environmental planning

Abstract

In a general way the planners come across the dilemma of the selection of the decisive information in the existent scenery, in the transformation of the information in indicators and in its structuring. Depending on those decisions, the result of the planning can be several. This study part of the hypothesis that, in environmental planning, if the indicators could be recognized and interpreted inside of a context of pointing the closest environmental relationships, the possible mistakes on the decision should be minimized. These indicators should emphasize the fragility, the potentialities and the pressure conditions, of quality or the environmental state and of the answers of the society. The objective of this work is to present a methodological structure of ordering and organization of indicators, that it was applied in a case study (hydrographic basin of the river Taquari), in way to verify the adaptation of the results.
