Maps in Geography

Abstract

Maps are skills produced by adults and used by adults. In this article we focalize maps about generals notions; its aims and uses; geographic space representation, and mapping process. Today, the geographers use several geometries to express and represent the geographic space with configurations no more corresponding tradicional maps. These maps will be used by teachers and students from elementary to superior instruction. Key-words: map, space geographic representation

possui graduação em Geografia e História pela Universidade de São Paulo (1958) , graduação em Enfermagem pela Universidade de São Paulo (1948) , especialização em Pós-graduação em Geografia pela Universidade de São Paulo (1967) , especialização pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1975) , especialização em Environmental Studies pela University of Toronto (1980) e doutorado em Ciências pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1967) . Atualmente é Voluntária Livre-Docente da Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho. Tem experiência na área de Geografia.
