The Character ot the New Geography
Abstract
The development observed during the contemporaneous phase of the Geography is commonly designated as the "New Geography". This paper has the finality in to show the aim characteristics Considered as the followings; a) the transference from landscapes to spatial organizatíon, as the principal focus for the geographical analysis; b) the relevance of the idiographic and nomothetic approaches in Geography; c) the permanence of locations in the grid of the absolute space and the flexibility of criterious that concern the relative space for the geographic representation; d) ideas about the historical-geographic theory and the probabilistic approach in the geographic research; e) the tools of analysis, focusing principally the use of models; and f) considerations about the quantification in Geography, whose techniques are means for the geographic research.
