Abstract

This research focuses on an analysis of the evolution of the population of the State of Minas Gerais from 1950 to 1980, making use of centrographlc technlques of dispersion and a statistic adjustment caIled jlrectional research. In general, one detects a slgnificant change in the period, once the state, basically "rural" in 1950, becomes "urban" in 1980. An east-west movement of the urban population is detected and a south-north movement related to rural population is found.
