A LINK BETWEEN THE LIVING AND THE DEAD - SYMBOLS AND RITES IN SERROLANDIA CEMETERIES

In view of the need to understand death - a phenomenon inherent in life - this work aims to discuss the elements that represent cultural and religious manifestations from the fields of interest in Serrolândia-BA, a city composed of three cemeteries. From the knowledge of the symbolic representations in the cemetery space, a reference to life is perceived, that is, understand how different languages contained in these environments demonstrate a concern of people who lose their loved ones by society, as cultural representations present in the reflected necropolises, on the one hand, people's ways of life, as on the other, the interpretation that individuals suffer about death. Thus, you can search for a link between the world of the living and the world of the dead, in order to understand and present the contextual elements of the tomb constitutions, their symbolic and material components, as cultural expressions, as social manifestations from the religious field, in order to demonstrate as specific characteristics of cemeteries, as components of manifestation of crimes and cultures that make up a society.
