German Geography
Abstract
The article summarizes and presents a short analysis of the German tendencies
of Geography, mainly in the period between its university course implantation and the end of World War II. The article calls the attention to some geographers as Humboldt, Ritter, Ratzel and Hettner. It also analyzes the rising of the German geopolitics and emphasizes some economists and geographers proposals such as from J. H. von Thünen, Alfred Weber and Walter Christaller which had been the basis to the development of theories and models of location by Geography. It’s an attempt to demonstrate that it is difficult to understand Geography Science without the studies of the German contribution which is the beginning of many geographic tendencies.
