A INDUSTRIALIZAÇÃO DE ARARAS, SP: UMA ANÁLISE DAS ETAPAS SUCESSIVAS DE INVESTIMENTOS E DA RELAÇÃO LOCAL/GLOBAL
Abstract
The analysis of the different phases of the industrialization process - or “rounds” of investments - that have taken place in the economic evolution of Araras, SP, has showed that those processes resulted more from the local agents (entrepreneurial initiative, investments of capital owners) than from those external ones. Nevertheless, local/global relations were and are established under the form of commercial links between the agribusiness activities and manufacturing industries and the international markets. The current economic and spatial structure seems to be a “mosaic”, where early agribusiness and manufacturing activities rests together with the new ones.
