A systems approach of surface water pollution by intensive swine raising
Abstract
Local and global aspects that cause pollution related to the dejection of confined swines in the Coruja-Bonito river basin, in Santa Catarina State, Southern Brazil, were analysed under systemic aproach. Local aspects are related to components and processes that include the flow of the dejections, the farm, the dejections deposits, soil, rivers, disponibility of workers and of good quality water, comercialization and industrialization of the swine production. Global aspects include the relation between industries, market and State, as credit programs and the use of modern technics for the expansion of the activity, as well as palliative measures to control the local pollution, which constitute a part of the global capital reproduction process.
