The Vila do Conde Port Complex is located in the surroundings of the Pará River. This stretch is characterized by low morphology and sandy plains. The climate is tropical wet (type Afi), with rainfall (monthly average of 336 mm), NE winds (daily average of 1.06 m / s-1), the mid tide reaches 3.4 m in height and currents of up to 1.8 m / s. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of the estuarine waters of the Pará River (Vila do Conde), using WQI. Five sampling campaigns were carried out, two in the rainy season, one in the transition period and two in the dry period, in 7 stations (in the surroundings of Porto), at the moments of ebb and flow. The procedures were performed in accordance with the methods outlined in the National Guide for Sample Collection and Preservation, SMEWW and US EPA. The variables allowed to infer that, on average, estuarine waters present better values of WQI at low tide. Lower and higher concentrations of thermotolerant coliforms (TTC) (71 to 1559 MPN / 100 mL-1) and dissolved oxygen (DO) (7.35 to 7.59 mg / L-1) were measured (mean), in the ebb tide, respectively.
