Abstract

This study brings a panorama of geographic climatology research by means of papers published in conference proceedings and academic production on climate. We analyzed scientific production in the past three Brazilian Symposiums of Geographic Climatology (SBCG) and the academic research developed in the area, for 20 years, by the  Institute of Geosciences at UNICAMP. To represent the production of the symposium, we used the quantitative methodology which resulted in the elaboration of charts and tables. For the set of academic researches, we used techniques used in textual data mining, which aim to retrieve information, discover patterns and search for relevant data, among other possible analyses, in a set of texts. The analysis set revealed, among other information, the thematic diversity in Climatology research, the concern with contemporary themes, the massive use of the statistical technique and an increasingly urgent role in vulnerability-related issues.
