Nowadays, images are also present in the school environment, with the use of textbooks, considered the most democratic and easily accessible tool to be handled in the classroom. Thus, the present text aims to analyze the photographic language as a didactic methodology for Geographic Education (GE), together with the two afternoon classes of the 9th year of elementary school at the State School of Elementary and Middle Education (EEEFM) Oneide de Souza Tavares, in the city of Marabá - Pará. The methodologies used were 1) theoretical research; 2) didactic-pedagogical planning; 3) conducting 4) activity proposed to students and 5) applicability of a questionnaire to students. Oliveira and Chiapinotto (2004, p.81) emphasize that “photography creates possibilities for students to interpret the world around them, representations of their school, family and geographical life”. In summary, we can observe that the use of photography, when inserted in the education and teaching of Geography, gives the student the possibility of “traveling to countless places”, getting to know different places, in addition to cultural, political and social phenomena.
