HOUSING POLICIES IN PRESIDENTE PRUDENTE, SP
PUBLIC AUTHORITIES’ ACTIONS IN THE PRODUCTION OF INEQUITIES
Abstract
Public policies regarding social housing and the allocation of urbanized lots can face actions from public authorities aligning themselves with a capitalist production of space. This sets a logic where the most vulnerable are placed in areas conforming to or in territorial proximity to zones of social exclusion. One of the outcomes is the formation of areas characterized by significant internal homogeneity. This study analyzes the implementation of housing complexes and urbanized lot programs from 1960 to 2010, linking them to social exclusion and the potential for imposed socio-spatial segregation. As methodological procedures, the areas of housing complexes were surveyed and served by urbanized lot programs. Subsequently, the implementation sites of housing policies underwent synthetic cartographic production, integrating spatial data with indicators of social exclusion.
