CONSOLIDATION OF INDUSTRIAL CAPITALISM AND THE BRAZILIAN CAPITALIST STATE: THE 1942 REGIONAL DIVISION AS AN EMBLEM OF THE TERRITORIAL (RE)ORGANIZATION PROJECT
Abstract
This study offers a brief explanation about the underlying aspects and
intentions behind the first regional division of the Brazilian territory in 1942. This regional model, emerging during the Estado Novo (New State), falls within a context of significant transformations in the Brazilian society. It represents the articulation of the foundations that supported the establishment of industrial capitalism and the Brazilian capitalist State. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to demonstrate how the articulation of a theoretical model for organizing the Brazilian territory served the project of instrumentalizing the national space to promote the consolidation of industrial capitalism in the country.
