Abstract

Operating under the determination of urban-industrial capital, agriculture is faced with structuralized oligopolies that determine the rules for the productive process and for the commercialization of agricultural products. The industrial, commercial and financial sectors impose the “what, when and how” to produce. The small holding producer with no formal education, has few conditions to apprehend the most abstract levels of information about the technologies that he uses. In the specific case of the tobacco production, the aim of this text, it is observed that the use in wide scale of chemical products, as the agrochemicals, has provoked serious damages to the health of peasant producer and still has been cause of contaminations of the environment.
