The rural world in the point of view of geographers - the progress of brazilian agrarian geography from the 30's to the 90's

Abstract

The development of the geographical studies about the agricultural activity can be evaluated according to the trajectory of the different works, thematic and methodological transformations that marked the Agrarian Geography in Brazil presents in newspapers and annals of congresses, produced and published by research institutions, departments and/or universities and associations linked to the Geography in Brazil. Thus, the present work looked for to identify the way of seeing geographical on the agriculture in Brazil, whose trajectory became function of the theoretical-methodological changes, suffered by the Geography, and of the happened transformations, in the socioeconomic context, in the Brazilian society, of the decade of 30 to the one of 90. The definition and the division into periods of the Agrarian Geography in Brazil, as well as the influences of another sciences in the geographical studies on the agriculture, were the first treated aspects. For analysis of the selected works, the goods and lifted up summaries received a quantitative treatment, defining: titles, authors, institutions, more representative decades, gathering the Brazilian geographical production on the agriculture. A temporary court, containing the decades two to for two it propitiated the identification of the behavior and of the happened changes, always in consonance with the scientific, economic and social present time of Brazil.
