Social and environmental differentiations in the periurban sector south of the city of Mar Del Plata (Argentina) through multivariate analysis, value average index and analysis cluster
Abstract
The growth of Mar del Plata (Argentina) has answered to expansive and spontaneous processes, that resulted in the construction of a slightly consolidated suburban territory with low population density. Those processes established territorial differences that created social and environmental problems. In the present study ten social and environmental variables were selected to analyze and to classify the census tracks that make up the suburban area located south of the city of Mar del Plata, with the aim of detecting social and environmental differentiations. Departing from multivaried analysis two methodologies were applied, Value Average Index and Analysis Cluster. Both presented similar results differentiating between the coastal sector, with more favorable characteristics, considering its increasing development, from the interior of the periurban with problematics that have to be overcome through the application of appropriate plans and strategies. Key Words: Periurban. Multivaried analysis. Social and environmental differentiations.Downloads
