Abstract

The locality of Harmonia I, situated in the 4th district of São Lourenço do Sul, is mostly inhabited by descendants of Pomeranians immigrants settled in small properties of familiar character. The place has modified its productive system since the local farmers started to cultivate tobacco. This work searches to understand how the familiar agriculture of the locality has been reorganized, what characteristics of the current agrarian complex are and the consequences in the agricultural producers quality of life.
