Employment of analytic approach to elaborate environmental zoning proposal for Bonito River Water Basin (SP)
Abstract
This paper deals with the use of analytical approach for the elaboration of an environmental zoning proposal for Bonito River Water Basin. In order to characterize and elaborate this objective, the following maps were created: soil map, agriculture ability of soil map, physical ability for urban settlement map and potential urban expansion map. Autocad and Cartalinx digitalization program resources, and Idrisi (geographic information system) were used. These thematic maps allowed us, by confronting the environmental law – as well as erosion potential risk information – to determinate four different zones for such a basin; urban activities zone, industrial and other production zone, agriculturesilvipastured zone and environmental protection zone. All of them were analyzed and characterized one by one. As a result, we recommend the use of analytical approach as a methodological basis for environmental data analysis and interpretation in zoning water-basin studies. Key words: water-basin; geographic information system; environmental zoning.Downloads
