Resumo

The mark of a good theory is its application to a wider spectrum of problems than to smaller particularities - wider literally in its spatial applications and wider in terms of the tim dimension. One important criterion of the utility of a theory or hypothesis is its use by scholars many years after it was first articulated. Theories in Sociology and Economics easily spring to mind . In Geography, similarly, recent years have witnessed a thrust into the theoretic with the exhumation or revitalising of certain pivotal contributions to space understanding. In the human aspects of geography certainly the most used theories are the location theories of Alfred Weber (1909), Johann H. von Thünen (1826) and Wlater Christaller (1933).
