Abstract

This study is proposed to investigate possible relations between the difficulties in Reading on the one hand, and Mathematics in the general, and Arithmetic in particular, on the other one. Being considered as two similar basic processes at the operatory level, one can admit that the promotion of abilities in one of the fields will have consequences in the other. However, as the processes of learning, both in reading and in Mathematics, imply a diversified set of cognitive abilities, it is important to know the type of interferences generated between these apparently so different areas of knowledge, but susceptible of being explored based on similar theoretical models.
