Abstract

This paper offers an historical analysis of the activities produced and developed by mathematics teachers of the Center for Teaching of Science of Bahia (CECIBA) of the Federal University of Bahia, from 1965 to 1969, specially, the program for middle school geometry teaching. The main goal of this research was to analyze if this program was a local and peculiar form of appropriation of the international program of modernization of the mathematics teaching in both middle and high schools that was diffused in Brazil during that period. We used a set of documents written by the teachers of CECIBA, which were obtained in the CECIBA’s historical archives. Keywords: Center for Science Teaching of Bahia. Mathematics. Teaching. History.
