Abstract

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a new perspective teaching-learning student-centered. With this methodological approach that PBL can contribute to the Education for Youth and Adults, incorporating themes of Food and Nutrition as a motivator for learning. The aim of this study was to report the implementation of PBL, with a focus on Nutrition Education in Education Center for Youth and Adults in Rio de Janeiro. A team of nutritionists and teachers was responsible for the preparation of problems for discussion in tutorials. The discussions of the topics were weekly, under the mediation of a tutor, and had the participation of 192 students. We present the results of the discussion of the topic hypertension, with the participation of 48 students. Students reported no difficulties with PBL and assessed the activity as excellent (47%), good (42%) and regular (11%). We conclude that the project contributed to student learning and reorganization of the curriculum beyond the traditional disciplines, appreciating other educational spaces, such as health, Nutrition Education and Food Science.
