Technique alternative and simplified for the gauging of hydrotops devoted to the stream Wenzel - Rio Claro/SP

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This assignment presents a simple and low cost method to analyse the quality of urban rivers and small streams. Thus, the Methylene Blue has been chosen as the indicator of hydrotops pollution. This task sumarizes the situation of polluted streams and rivers in urban areas as a result of the lack of any sistematic planning to promote the cities' development, and the Methylene Blue technique can be used for continuos monitoring of the quality of water. The present study took place in Rio Claro of São Paulo state, where a stream was selected to be part of the monitoring work during the period of one year. That's is sufficient time to appraise the effectiveness of the technique. In addition, the paper also proposes the use of the method in the Environmental Education.
