Abstract

Geoindicators are surface or nearly surface measures from geological processes whose can have significant variation, providing data to environmental evaluations. They can be used to describe catastrophic or gradual processes defining environmental state and supplying indications for proper interventions in order to cease or reduce the processes to restore or preserve environmental quality. Its application had take place in different natural and urban environment, using different groups of indicators and ways to obtain the information in each environment. This paper discuss its geoindicators and methods taking in account the characteristics of the considered environments, its costs, application in similar areas and application in environmental monitoring. We consider that the proposed geoindicators have good potential for application in similar areas, since cost and technical proceedings being properly considered. Key words: environmental degradation, geoindicators and environmental management.
