THE EFFECT OF THE URBAN EMPTINESSES IN THE URBANIZATION COSTS OF THE PALMAS CITY - TOCANTINS STATE
Abstract
Palms city, even so it is a planned city that is seventeen years old, presents problems of urban emptinesses and raised Urbanization Costs. The present study is justified for the observation of the urban emptinesses in the central region and for the low population density of the city, comparativily to its original project. The object of this study was to analyze the effect of the urban emptinesses in the Urbanization Costs of the city. The method of the Average Cost of the urban nets was used in this study in function of the density (MASCARÓ, 1987a) developed by means of secondary data-collecting. In this way it was considered in this study the containment of the city expansion through the reduction of the current urban perimeter from 28.415 hectares to 16.000 hectares and the creation of public politics considering the urban density of the central region, with the occupation of the existing urban emptinesses in this region, which are endowed with infrastructure.
