Abstract

Coastal dunes are recent geological deposits composed of continental sediments accumulated by the action of marine and wind processes. The present study aimed to analyze the parameters of wind and precipitation in Paracuru in the year 2015, besides to calculate the migration velocity of the dunefields present in the northern portion of the coast. Wind data were obtained from the Usina Eólica de Paracuru / CPFL and processed by Windographer 4.0 software. The average annual migration velocity was determined through the GPS-mapped tracks on the Pico Alto dune between January and December 2015. The rainy season was concentrated in the first half of the year, mainly between February and May (accumulating 70% of total precipitation). The actives winds in 2015 had an annual average of 12.5 m / s, with speed peaks concentrating in the late morning and early afternoon. In the first semester, the accumulated frequency indicated average speeds between 8-12 m / s, with incident winds of.ESE, SE and SSE. In the second semester, the winds became stronger, with predominant incidence of NE, ENE and cumulative frequency between 12-15 m / s. The realized tracks evidenced that the dunes of the area presented a migration speed of 30 m / year.
