Abstract
In the present paper present a systematic review of the Pygidiolampas araripensis (Beurlen, 1966), an echinoid Cassiduloida from Araripe Basin, and the propose to the transfer these specie of the family Faujasidae Lambert, 1905 to the family Clypeidae Lambert,1898, genus Bothryopneustes Fourtau, 1924. This proposition is based on the number of pores beyond the petals, on the arrangement of the phyllodes pores, on the length and opened of the petals and the position of the periproct, characteristic in common with others species of Bothryopneustes.Based on the morphologic structures of the test, this species was probably epifaunal in a marine low energy environment.
