In the NW Caldas Novas region (Goiás), interleaved within Araxá Group metasediments, occurs an orthogneiss lens (named São Sebastião do Paraíso orthogneiss), which was initially correlated as part of the Aragoiânia-type granitoid. This paper aims to present isotopic (Sm/Nd whole rock), geochronological (U-Pb zircon), and whole rock geochemistry data of this occurrence. The orthogneiss crops out as an E-W-oriented kilometric lens, interleaved within Quartzite Sequence Domain metasediments, mainly represented by biotite-muscovite orthogneiss and/or muscovite-biotite orthogneiss, showing monzogranitic to granodiorite composition and bearing quartz, microcline, oligoclase/andesine, biotite, and muscovite and, as accessory minerals include epidote, allanite, zircon, apatite, titanite, and opaque minerals. The orthogneiss exhibits calcium-alkaline to alkaline-calcium and peraluminous composition, with LILE enrichment in comparison to ETR. U-Pb geochronology yields a crystallization age of 2140.28 ±7.83 Ma, with a TDM(Nd) model age of 2203.4 Ga (positive εNdt of 2.43). The isotopic and geochemical data indicate that the orthogneiss was formed in a Paleoproterozoic juvenile magmatic event (magmatic arc) and corresponds to a Brasília Belt basement fragment hosted in the Araxá Group metasediments.
