Abstract
Conectivity between the hydrologic regimen and the distribution of the vegetation there is already a lot is recognized by several researchers in the works of fluvial ecology. It can be affirmed that the geomorphology of the alluvial plain has an important paper in the constitution of the riparian vegetation. On the proposed study, traverse topographical profiles were elaborated in the island, recognition of the distribution of the vegetation and the zoning geomorphologic presented in profiles for the Mutum Island. It´s located in the upper course of the Parana River, between the mouth of the Paranapanema River and the mouth of the Ivinhema River. It elapses of this study the succession of the strata of the riparian vegetation and the relationship with the morphology of the surface, in this
case the relief as the main controller abiotic and selective of the species in the environmental. For the whole island it was possible to define three classes: Mutum Upper Unit, Mutum Lower Unit and Paleochannel. The presented discussion is resulted partial of the project called Processes of Conectivity and the Riparian Vegetacion in the high course of the Parana River, PR/MS.

Possui bacharel e licenciatura em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2005), com a obtenção do título de mestre em análise regional e ambiental em 2006 pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá e egresso no doutorado em 2007 no programa de Geociências e Meio Ambiente na Universidade Estadual Paulista. Desde 2005 tem atuado como professor colaborador de geografia física na Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná e na Faculdade Integrado de Campo Mourão (PR). Atua na área de análise de bacia sedimentar, geomorfologia, geoprocessamento e licenciamento ambiental

raduação em Geologia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1976), mestrado (1986) e doutorado (1994) em Geociências pela Universidade de São Paulo (1986), pós-doutorado no CECO/ Universidade Federal do RS (1998), Krasnoyarsk State University, Rússia (1998) e na Universidad Nacioanla de La Plata, Argentina (2007-2008). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Tem experiência na área de Geociências, com ênfase em Geomorfologia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: geomorfologia, hidrologia e sedimentologia fluvial, Geologia do Quaternário, Geologia Ambiental. Coordena o IGCP 582 "Tropical rivers: hydro-physical processes, impacts, hazards and management". Em 2007 seu artigo "Tropical Rivers" em co-autoria com Latrubesse & Sinha publicado em Geomorphology 2005, 70(3-4):187 - 206, foi classificado pelo Science Direct "TOP25 Hotest Articles" entre os 25 artigos mais consultados daquele periódico.

Possui graduação em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1974) , especialização em Geografia Física do Estado do Paraná pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1987) e mestrado em Ecologia de Ambientes Aquáticos Continentais pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2001) . Atualmente é Professor Assistente (Tide A) da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Tem experiência na área de Botânica , com ênfase em Fitogeografia. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Fitofisionomia, Levantamento Florístico, Planície de inundação, Alto Rio Paraná.
