During 1998 June to 1999 July the evolution of sand banks located in the northern portion of the Caraguatatuba Bay, was followed by monthly monitoring. Several banks develop parallel to the shoreline, the next to the beach face being always emerged, while others are visible during very low tides, or they never emerge. The emergent bank monitoring evidenced a gradual growth of sandy features from the rocky headland (Camaroeiro Headland) toward the Ipiranga River mouth located at southwest of the rocky point. Fine to very fine sands have been gradually deposited in the advance front of the beach face throughout its main axis. These monitoring results were compared to similar surveys carried out between 1978 and 1981. In the monitoring the lengthening and widening of the sandy feature to observed, which caused coalescence to the continent and to the Ipiranga River pier, like s in previous works, but without disruption and dismounting processes, as inferred from the monitoring carried out between 1978 and 1981.
