Abstract
Rock blasting provokes inevitable environment impacts and discomfort for the surrounding populations, which are daily exposed to its effect. These environmental effects are mainly caused by the flyrock, ground vibrations, airblast, dust, noise, silting of local drainage, and the visual and landscape alteration. These problems can be reduced to an acceptable level, if the rock exploration is executed in order to preserve the conditions of health, security and comfort of the affected population, adopting modern techniques of extraction and improvement, and a continued monitoring of the environmental parameters keeping them, at least, in the governmental regulation limits.
