The aim of this study was to analyze the motor coordination level of students from 8 to 14 years old from Florianópolis City, considering gender, range, extra-class sports practice and Body Mass Index (BMI). 243 students from State Secretary of Education participated of the study. The data collecting instruments were anthropometric measurements and Motor Coordination Tests for children. The Chi-square test, contained on package SPSS for Windows version 11.5, was used in statistical analysis of data (p<0,05). The results evidenced that the masculine gender presented better motor coordination levels than feminine, identifying a significant decrease in motor coordination levels in students with more advanced age. Moreover, it was observed that students who practiced sports in extra-class time had higher motor coordination index and the children and adolescents who are overweight/obese presented expressive low coordination levels.Downloads
