The present study focused on mapping the field of activity of the Physical Education with regard to the “Alternative Corporal Practices” (ACPs), whose purpose is to identify the existing occupational interactions between these two fields, indicating their common points regarding the possibility of acting in the Physical Education area. It is understood as alternative corporal practices (ACPs) the corporal practices related to the human motion, whose development happens in an unconventional ‘form’ and/or ‘not traditional’, with the examples of yoga, tai-chi-chuan, among others. It has been established as a case study in UNESP/Rio Claro and had the participation of eight people whose life stories are related to ACPs, as participants, professionals or researchers. The results pointed to convergence between the two areas, especially in the body-motion relation, with the sense that the ACPs present a holistic view of the bodywork to Physical Education, consisting of a new range of chances for this work. Keywords: physical education, alternative corporal practices, body and motion.Downloads
