The aim of this study was to verify the degree of importance attributed to professional competences of sports couches of Santa Catarina State, taking into account the educational background, vital cycles and degree of competitions in which they perform. The sample selection process was done according to the regions of Santa Catarina State, taking part of the investigation 213 couches, both genders, who work with groups and individuals in different Municipal Sports Foundations. For data collecting it was used the modified version of Scale of Self-perception of Competence (EAPC) adapted from Simão (1998). Tests Chi-square and Likelihood Ratio, program SPSS version 11,0, were applied for statistical analysis of data, whose degree of significance adopted was 5%. The evidences found confirmed the high valorization of biodynamic knowledge, psyco-socio-cultural, management and legislation and sports theory and methodology, as well of planning abilities and sports management, evaluation, communication and integration, self-reflexion and professional updating for professional sports couches. While the post-graduated couches attributed higher importance to the professional competences, younger couches who work in state and national competitions emphasized the sports biodynamic knowledge.Downloads
