Undergraduation in physical education at the city of Maringá: general gymnastics in question

This descriptive study, aimed to analyze how the professors of Maringá understand general gymnastics and, what knowledge related to it, they deem necessary for the undergraduation in physical education. For data collection it was used the Delphi method and the participants of research were 15 professors who work in higher education for at least five years. The results research indicate that the general gymnastics (GG) has not achieved the desired space in the initial academic education in Maringá, and that teachers have different levels of understanding about this expression. We still notice that, when they establish their understanding about GG, as well as the necessary knowledge for undergraduation, teachers relate it to their expert area and their research. Therefore, there is need for improve the professors’ knowledge about GG based on theoretical references of the area, in order to promote its legitimacy as in academic space as school.Downloads
