Good ethical practices in scientific communication

Plagiarism

  • The “Motriz. The Physical Education Journal” has a strong commitment to ethics and scientific quality, following the guidelines and procedures of the Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE, the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit – PERK, Elsevier, the SciELO Guide for Good Practices for Strengthening of Ethics in Scientific Publication and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practices in Academic Publishing, recommended by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA and WAME”.
  • Everyone involved in the publication, authors, reviewers and the Editorial Board in its entirety, are committed to the ethical-institutional duties and obligations of the journal. Scientific misconduct, which violates the ethical obligations and duties subscribed to by “Motriz. The Physical Education Journal” will justify the respective responsibility, depending on the intervention in the publication process (submission, opinion or editorial process).
  • The “Motriz. The Physical Education Journal” adopts the Turnitin tool to track plagiarism and self-plagiarism after acceptance of the article by the Section Editor, and authors must be aware of the implications provided for in the legal provisions of the Penal Code (article 184) and the Copyright Law ( article 7, third paragraph of Law No. 9,610, of February 19, 1998 – see Law No. 12,853, of 2013).

Use of artificial intelligence

  • The use of artificial intelligence is interrupted in the preparation process of articles submitted to “Motriz. The Physical Education Journal” is permitted as long as it is aligned with the ethical precepts of scientific research. Therefore, artificial intelligence tools and language models cannot be listed as authors, nor held responsible for any excerpts or contents of the manuscript.
  • The following activities will be considered accepted for use of these tools: (i) assistance in writing manuscripts when used to paraphrase or improve the author's original content; (ii) bibliographical research, provided that the author(s) are responsible for the selection and critical analysis of the research carried out and; (iii) in the production of images or graphic elements and this must be explicit in the Materials and Methods section of the article with details of how the tool was used.
  • The use of these tools must be declared in the Registration Form. In all cases, authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity and originality of their research articles.
