Abstract

Based on the expansion of the Environmental Education (EE) research field in Brazil, this study aims to analyze the trends in papers published in national EE journals. Forty-nine editions published in 2014-2018 were analyzed, selected on the portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), which had the term "Environmental Education" in the title and / or subtitle, available online and, explicitly linked to some Brazilian university. The descriptors used were inspired by the State of the Art on Environmental Education Research Project (EArte). The descriptors related to the journals were year of initiation, number of published volumes, responsible institutions and internationalization indicators of production and the one related to research reports were year of publication, educational context, and object of study. The work was carried out by reading the titles, abstracts and, when necessary, the full text. Despite the specificities regarding the distribution of production in each journal, there is a predominance of studies that investigate the school context (51.7%). Concerning the subject of study, articles that identify and discuss concepts, representations, perceptions about elements related to the environmental theme, they compound most of the analyzed sample (31%). It is expected to contribute to the discussion about the academic production published by the journals, specifically about the approaches of research in EE privileged by the field.
