Abstract

Environmental perception has been indicated as a possibility of previous study in projects that aim the thought, sensibilization and mobilization of the individual for the environmental theme. This study sought, through drawing, understand how 6th grade students perceive the restinga ecosystem. The research took place at the Municipalized School of Inoã, located in the municipality of Maricá - RJ. We got a total of 30 drawings, within 90% contained some type of vegetation and 20% had representatives of the coastal fauna. Regarding the conservation degree of restingas, 36.6% of these 30 drawings represented preserved environments and 63.6% areas under human interference. The results showed that the students perceived a high relationship of the vegetation structure with the restinga ecosystem. However, regardless of whether students draw preserved restingas or not, human interference was a frequent aspect in the images.
