In view of the challenge of breaking hierarchies of knowledge in the insertion of medicinal plants and herbal medicines in the Unified Health System (SUS), this essay reflects on the question “How Environmental Education can contribute to the emergence of silenced knowledge in the implementation of live pharmacies? ”, Using as a reference the concepts of knowledge ecology and interpretive communities, coined by Boaventura de Souza Santos and the National Environmental Educator Training Program (ProFEA). The work indicates the potential of EA to promote a collective construction of knowledge about medicinal plants and phytotherapy, contributing to the implementation of live pharmacies that express regional diversities.
